It is so easy to lose sight of what religion is really all about. Is religion attending church regularly, or giving financially to your religious organization? True religion goes so far beyond the church doors. Our devotion to God and to our fellow man starts in the Bible and within the four walls of our local churches. If our religion stops there, though, what good have we really done? True devotion walks out of the church and it finds individuals who are truly in need of seeing that devotion in action.

The sisters featured in this video understand that when you truly love the Lord, that love gets translated into love for others. Even the simplest acts of kindness can have eternal benefits. If you watch closely, you will see how that not only is the sick sister showing obvious joy at receiving this love, but her other two sisters show equal joy. This is the timeless Biblical principal which teaches us that it is more blessed to give than to receive. In our society there is such attention focused on making sure that I get what I want, that we have lost the concept of receiving joy by doing, not for ourselves, but for others.

Many Christians hesitate when it comes to serving others, thinking that they really have nothing to give, but 1 Peter 4:10 tells us that , “As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.” Everyone has a gift to give, even something as simple as brushing the hair of a sick sister. Even if you feel that you do not have a special gift to offer to others, you have the gift of yourself, your companionship and your time.
