This interesting BuzzFeedVideo you can watch below in its entirety pairs Matt, a Christian, and Rachel a Satanist, via handcuffs for an enlightening experiment. This unlikely couple spends an entire weekend together experiencing all the other person believes and how they live out their day-to-day lives. The video shows Matt going along with Rachel to a Tarot card reading. Rachel, in turn, goes with Matt to his nondenominational church.
What Did The Christian Think?
Matt, the Christian, was scared and hesitant to step into Rachel’s satanic world. However, he remembers what the Bible says in 2 Timothy 1:7, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love and self-discipline.” Matt enjoyed his time with Rachel, even though his beliefs differ from hers’, dramatically.
What Did The Satanist Think?
Rachel shares that her experience going to church wasn’t near as bad as she thought. She did take every opportunity to insult Matt’s beliefs, though and insinuate that those who believe in God, only do so because they need a crutch. However, she was respectful to Matt overall and was a good sport about the experiment.
What Christians Can Learn From This
This experiment, although done in the spirit of fun, can teach us all a great deal. We as Christians must be willing in some cases to step outside our own comfort zones to reach those who don’t know Christ. In Mark 2:17, Jesus himself says “it’s not the well who need a doctor but the sick”. This implies that we as Christians should be more like Matt and be willing to love even a Satanist.
