Disconnected. Lack of power. Being isolated. These are horrible feelings. Have you ever experienced these feelings with regard to God? In other words, do you ever feel disconnected from God? If so, what can you do? This video below published by THE BEAT explores this issue in depth.

What to do When You Feel Disconnected From God: How to Reconnect

  • Lay Aside the Weight: Hebrews 12:1 says “…let us strip off every weight that slows us down.” This weight can be anything that diverts your attention from God. It doesn’t necessarily have to be bad. In fact, it can even include serving God in ministry. However, when the “weight,” no matter what it is, keeps you from spending time with God, it needs to be laid aside. Don’t confuse activity with intimacy. You can be active yet not connected with God. Remember duty never replaces devotion. Some common weights you might identify with include people, busyness, career or even social media.
  • Remove the Sin: Hebrews 12:1 says, “…especially the sin that so easily trips us up.” Of course, this verse implies we are to lay aside the sin that so easily entangles us. When we allow sin to stay and continue in a habitual pattern, it creates guilt in our life. That guilt leads to separation from God which in turn negatively affects our intimacy with Him. Consequently, when sin is allowed to remain unchecked in our lives, intimacy with God just gets harder and harder to maintain.

Watch this video to learn even more ways to reconnect with God. Remember, God always remains present, it’s us who moves away. Thankfully, that means we are able to move closer again as well. We only have to desire a deeper, more intimate relationship with God and take the necessary steps needed to reestablish our relationship.
