Depression: What does it mean to you? Is it simply being sad? Is it more? Being depressed or fighting the disease of depression is more than just “feeling blue” on occasion. Many experts say depression moves from simple sadness to more when it starts interfering with your ability to live well and lasts for over two weeks time. It is this type of sadness and despair that is the topic of discussion below:
How Believers Should Handle Depression
This video published by The Revival Fellowship explains how several people were healed of their depression by a mericul God. Thankfully, God won’t leave us in the pit of despair. It is His will for us to live life abundantly as it says in John 10:10, which reads, “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have more abundantly.”
Who is the Thief?
In this passage, the “thief” can be anything that interferes with you living your best life, the life that God has created just for you. This includes the devil and his schemes, and he often uses depression and anxiety to interfere with the lives of believers, making them less effective and joyful.
There is Deliverance
Thankfully, God has not left us without hope. He stands waiting for us to reach out and proclaim redemption and healing from whatever ails us, depression or otherwise. In some cases, this will mean miraculous healing, in others, it will involve medication and therapy. Regardless of the means of the cure, though, God has made the healing possible. It is up to us to simply embrace that truth.
