Science and faith don’t have to be at odds. Though they are often thought of as two ends of a plane, never intersecting, to be a person of faith does not require you to ignore science. In fact, the Bible in many cases has either backed up scientific facts or has proven them before a scientific discovery was even made. This video published by Living Waters is a eye opening look at the many cases in which the Bible has proven scientific facts:

Top Scientific Facts Proven by the Bible:

The Earth’s Location: Job 26:7

Years ago, during Bible times and before, many assumed the earth was perched on the back of a huge giant or animal. While this seems comically ridiculous to us today, that was really the going thought. However, the Bible, before the solar system was discovered some 3,000 years later, proclaimed the earth to be floating or hung on nothing, which would have seem absurd at the time. Of course, decades later, when it was discovered that the earth was in fact floating in orbit, the verse makes perfect sense. The verse is found in Job 26:7 and reads, “He spreads out the northern skies over empty space; He suspends the earth over nothing.”

Importance of Hygiene: Leviticus 15:13

Before 1845 when a doctor realized the importance of hygiene, more specifically washing hands, between seeing patients, the death rate in hospitals was pretty high. This was because doctors would examine dead women, who lost their lives giving birth, then go see living expectant mothers without washing their hands. However, one doctor recommended hand washing before each patient and all the sudden, the fatality rate for mothers delivering babies in hospitals dramatically reduced. The infection rate improved even more when doctors recognized the importance of using running water instead of reusing bowls of water. Leviticus 15:13, which says in part, “wash his clothes, and bathe his body in running waters; then he shall be clean,” outlined this hygiene practice over 3,000 years prior, though. Too bad doctors didn’t look to the Great Physician for more guidance.
